Baby E

Becoming a parent is a big step. One you can't really learn from a book; that you can't experience until you become one. One that will change your life forever.

Babies have a wonderful way of transforming us. They encourage us to be better parents. They teach us patience. And how to survive on 3 hours of sleep, 30 minutes at a time.

Sometimes we find our identity when we become a parent. Sometimes we lose it. Everyone experiences their own pathway to Parenthood, and that road is filled with sharp turns and unexpected dips as well as clear paths leading to new and exciting places.

I'm not sure what path my friend Kristi will be taking. All I know is that when Baby E finally arrived, it was love at first sight.

The Littlest Girl

I recently got to meet a special little girl. A girl whose mommy was my best friend in high school. A girl who is so deeply loved and cherished. A very lucky little girl.

Meet Baby E.

I couldn't help but share this with I Heart Faces.

White

This week's I Heart Faces challenge theme is: white. The first thing I thought of was this particular photo of sweet, little Baby N, a baby girl whom I nicknamed Snow White. She had the creamiest skin, rosiest lips and the darkest, jet-black hair. So beautiful.

Baby M

His name starts with an M, but I think the M stands for "Miracle." Baby M was born at 35 weeks. Which is pretty amazing since his mom was admitted to the hospital at 29 weeks right after her water broke.

Weeks of bed rest, never-ending prayers and consuming hospital food three times a day paid off (maybe without the green Jello...)

Beautiful Baby M was born and proved all the statistics wrong (her doctor said 85% of patients whose water breaks early deliver within one week.)

Sweet Little Baby C (and look at that perfect head, too!)

Newborn babies are cute. They smell good. They have the cutest little toes. But sometimes, just sometimes, the shape of their heads remind me of Saturday Night Live's "Coneheads" skit with Dan Aykroyd. (So that's why they give you those cute little baby hats at the hospital...) But Baby C has the most perfect round head I've ever seen. He's a C-section baby, which explains why his head is just perfect. No stress was placed on that little noggin. No waiting for hours and hours in his travel tube, ready to start his new world.

Baby C is so adorable, which is why we didn't mind when he peed in his Mommy's hands while taking a photo....

Motherhood

This week's I Heart Faces photo challenge theme is: Motherhood. I am a mother of two, and I know how challenging and rewarding Motherhood is. It's a 24-hour job that leaves you fulfilled, yet exhausted at the end of the day.

I love capturing slices of Motherhood with my camera. Every time I look at a photo such as this one, I get that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. This feeling causes some mothers to crave another child, which is the magic of Motherhood. Even though we've been puked on, peed on and pooped on, we still love our babies (even when they aren't babies anymore!)

Facebook

Day 23. Facebook. I have a lot of photos posted on Facebook of my loved ones but this one jumped out at me as I was scrolling through my collection.

I love the way my youngest is looking at me through the lens. He was only a year and a half at the time this photo was taken, but his look is so intent, so meaningful. I can't tell you what he was trying to convey. Maybe he really wanted a cup of milk. Perhaps he was about to poop his pants. Who knows. I'd like to think that he was telling me he how much he loves me. No words needed.

I had the privilege of taking photos of Baby M when she was just 11 days old. Sooooo beautiful.

I thank her wonderful family for letting me capture such a sweet and tender part of her life.

Innocence, at its Best.

The theme to this weeks' I Heart Faces photo challenge is: Innocent Wonder. What's more innocent than a young child, in this case, my baby, right before reaching his toddler stage? When all his thoughts are consumed with how to walk, where's my Mommy and when's my next feeding?

There's nothing better than watching and observing my kids when they are deep in thought. What are they thinking? What's going on in their little head?

So Cool to Be One.

I had the pleasure of photographing Baby B's 1st Birthday celebration which is a big deal, but it's a bigger deal if you are Korean. The tables were lined with candy, cakes and desserts. Beautiful decorations (made by his super cool mom!) and photos of Baby B and his family welcomed guests. And don't get me started about the food that was served...What more can a one-year-old ask for?!?

Baby I

So I realized I haven't posted pictures of Baby I, whom I watched being born. Such a blessing! This is her at less than two weeks old, even though she's now going on almost two months. Yikes! She's getting so big! Double yikes! I've been so behind on blogging!

Absolutely Amazing

I had the privilege of taking photos of a home birth this past week. Although I have kids of my own, I've never seen a birth of a baby before. It's absolutely amazing. You cannot witness something like that and not be in utter awe of what's happening. A baby is being born. Here. Now. What a miracle. What a gift. God is good.

Stacey and Kieran are already wonderful parents, and now they are celebrating another addition to their beautiful family. Thank you for inviting me to such an intimate occasion. Something that I'll remember forever...

I'm Sorry.

I have to apologize. If you're a friend of mine with kids, it's a given that at any time I will pull out my camera and take pictures of your children. My friend Colleen and I have known each other since our oldest ones were two weeks old. Her son was 12 days old and mine was 15 days old. We entered our journey into motherhood together and I couldn't have asked for a better person to call crying and frustrated when my son wouldn't stop crying. At 3 in the morning.

Colleen and her kids visited us a week ago, and I just couldn't resist taking photos of her 4-month old daughter. Can you blame me?

Surprise!

This week's I Heart Faces Photo Challenge is: Surprise! No, really. That's it. Little Baby H was four months old when I took this. He just woke up from a nap and was wondering why I was making all these silly faces at him. That is, until he spotted his Mommy standing right beside me. He was a bit surprised, ecstatic and relieved to see her all at once. I guess looking at me, a strange lady with a camera right in his face, was not part of his normal four-month-old routine.

Wine Country

Napa. Gorgeous scenery. Beautiful weather. A wine lover's paradise. Only, I don't drink.

I was, however, able to enjoy the amazing scenery and feel the warmth of the sun on my face while the wind gently blowed.

I had the pleasure of shooting three lovely families, all of them so beautiful (not to mention patient!) I'd love to go back to Napa soon, but instead of drinking a glass of wine, I'll be sure to bring my own sparkling water.

Beautiful Baby

So sweet. So beautiful. So innocent. Baby H was sooooo sweet, I didn't mind at all when he targeted all my light-colored blankets and pooped on them. Didn't mind a bit. He was such a trooper and actually stayed awake for most of the shoot (a first for me!) He has the perfect pouty, little lips and his gorgeous eyes just draw you in.

Welcome, Baby L!

I had the pleasure of photographing Baby L at only 6 days old (don't let her chubby cheeks fool you!) I had a great time with her wonderful family, and I think Baby L had fun, too! Although her mom thinks she had more fun peeing and pooping on my props...
